MUTUAL DISRUPTION

Dari masa ke masa, Kata selalu didominasi oleh penguasa. Namun, Kata milik warga akan selamanya “menjalar, mengurat, hidup dari masa ke masa…” seperti akar-akar yang menerobos dan melompati beton-beton penguasa. Di masa kini, akar-akar tersebut kian bercabang dan tak jarang saling menginterupsi lewat percepatan teknologi media sosial. 69 Performance Club berusaha menafsirkan keadaan ini dalam sebuah performans, menampilkan tumpang-tindih Kata yang semakin beragam, variatif, saling berkompromi dan berkolaborasi.

Mutual Disruption merupakan karya seni performans kolaboratif yang menginterpretasi bagian terakhir dari teks Chairil Anwar, berjudul “Hoppla!” (pernah dimuat di majalah Pembangunan Th. 1 No. 1, 10 Desember 1945). Teks tersebut berisi seruan revolusioner Chairil Anwar tentang kewajiban memaksimalkan potensi kata-kata (dalam konteks sastra) untuk menciptakan formulasi baru dalam hal penetapan-penetapan dan aksi-aksi budaya. Dia percaya bahwa kata memiliki gagasannya tersendiri, dengan kekuatan destruktif dan disruptinya terhadap Rezim Bahasa Lama. Kata-kata kita hari ini harus memberdayakan, dan juga harus merangsang Gerakan Bahasa Baru. Dalam konteks itu, Chairil Anwar membayangkan bahwa revolusi kata juga menuntut emansipasi pembaca. Orientasi ideologisnya adalah untuk membebaskan kata dari statusnya sebagai budak pengetahuan usang dan mendorong kata menjadi entitas bebas yang dapat menghasilkan pengetahuan aktual untuk zamannya. Dari perspektif ini, revolusi kata berarti inovasi cara berpikir dan melihat.

Melalui Mutual Disruption, 69 Performance Club mengkaji potensi kata-kata dengan memanfaatkan penggunaan teknologi berbasis Transformasi Operasional (OT). Performans ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan ungkapan performatif dan visual yang melampaui batasan-batasan keterbacaan (readability) untuk mendefinisikan kembali liminalitas tekstual dan mempertanyakan politik menonton (the politics of watching).

From time to time, The Word has always been dominated by the ruling class. However, The Word that belongs to the people is forever “spreading like vein and muscle, living from time to time…”, like roots that break through and leap over the concrete of the ruling class. Today, these roots are increasingly branching and interrupting each other through the acceleration of social media technology. 69 Performance Club tries to interpret this situation in a performance, presenting the overlapping of Words that has grown increasingly diverse and varied; compromising and collaborating with each other.

Mutual Disruption is a collaborative performance artwork to interpret the last part of Chairil Anwar’s text entitled “Hoppla!” (once published in the magazine Pembangunan Th. 1 No. 1, 10 December 1945). The text contains Anwar’s revolutionary call about maximising the potential of words (in the context of literature) to make a new formulation in terms of cultural acts and principles. He believed that the word had the idea on its own, with a destructive and disruptive power to the Old Language Regime. Our word should empower and stimulate a New Language Movement. In that context, he envisioned that the revolution of the word also demanded readers’ emancipation. His ideological orientation is to liberate the word from its status as an outdated knowledge slave and to prompt it a free entity that can produce actual knowledge for its age. From this perspective, the revolution of the word means the innovation of a way of thinking and seeing.

By Mutual Disruption, 69 Performance Club examines the potentiality of words by taking advantage of the use of Operational Transformation-based technology. It aims to create visual, performative utterance that leaps beyond the limitations of readability to redefine textual liminality and question the politics of watching.
